Who is eligible to sponsor their family?
If they have a current residency permit, expatriate residents—both employers and employees—may sponsor their families in the UAE.
Male UAE citizens who are employed are eligible to sponsor their immediate family members, such as their wife and children, provided they meet certain requirements, including having a minimum annual wage of AED 4,000 or AED 3,000 and housing.
The type of profession is no longer mandatory for an overseas worker to sponsor his family’s visas as of March 2019. The UAE government changed the rule that only individuals in certain occupations were eligible to apply for family sponsorship visas. Now, regardless of his occupation, a foreign worker can sponsor his family members’ residence permits and bring them to the UAE as long as he meets the “income criteria,” or the minimum wage requirement, which is a minimum salary of AED 4,000 or AED 3,000 plus housing.
